Every woodworker needs jigs, and some of the best jigs are also some of the oldest.
On my last trip to Australia dad gave me his three volume set called Practical Cabinet Making, which he’s had since the 1950’s. I used it as a reference for making a cutting block.
I used an offcut of 5-ply which I cut in half and layered to make the plate thicker. I then cut two short pieces of pine, one for each end.
The whole thing was simple to make, just glued and nailed. It is nice to use, I’m happy.
