Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.
(Acts 4:13 NASB)
There was something very powerful about how Peter and John stood before them, they didn’t come across as ordinary fisherman that’s for sure. No, it became quite clear to the Pharisees and others with them that Peter and John had been with Jesus. This is a powerful statement on its own. These people crucified Jesus as a heretic and blasphemer, yet here they are conceding the power and authority of Jesus because of the way that Peter and John are appearing before them.
When we stand in the power and authority of Jesus Christ, that comes to us through the Holy Spirit, then people have to notice. I don’t say that to mean that we are forcing them to notice, I mean to say that our presence compels them to recognise the Truth in and of what they are seeing. We need to be fully immersed in the Holy Spirit at all times, as Peter and John were, so that all people around us at all times can see Jesus Christ through us.
